Largest U.S. national stamp show Aug. 20-23 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The American Philatelic Society will present Stampshow, the nation’s largest annual postage stamp event, Thursday, Aug. 20, through Sunday, Aug. 23, in Grand Rapids, Mich. at the DeVos Place Convention Center, 303 Monroe Ave. NW. The show will offer a bourse of more than 120 dealers, many meetings and seminars, and more than 15,000 pages of collectors’ exhibits.

Stunning array of previously offered U.S. material sold at Rarities Week

As in previous years, Rarities Week, the series of sales conducted June 22-26 by Robert A. Siegel Auction Galleries in New York, included several name sales as well as an assortment of notable items from around the world. The week kicked off with something of a do-over: a sizable assortment of better United States stamps and covers that had appeared in four previous sales, but whose winning bidder then failed to pay for them.

Rasdale auction Aug. 15-16 includes Jim Linker stock, worldwide selection

Rasdale Stamp Co. is presenting its 425th public auction Aug. 15 and 16 at the firm’s gallery in Westmont, Ill., just west of Chicago. The auction lots are listed with images on the Rasdale Stamp Co. website, and bids can be placed online. The current sale consists of more than 575 lots from 85 owners, and ranges from single stamps and covers to large lots, accumulations and collections.

Canada’s recalled Hoodoo stamps are hot items on eBay

Less than a week after Canada Post ordered the recall and destruction of booklets and souvenir sheets with $1.20 stamps depicting inaccurate images of the Hoodoo rock formations, they became hot properties on the Internet auction website eBay.

Regency Superior held a sale June 3-7 in conjunction with the Napex stamp show in McLean, Va. The sale included space memorabilia and autographs, as well as stamps and postal history. In common with other such sales, however, there were some crossover items that covered multiple categories.

Romania 1858 Coat of Arms cover top lot at Harmers sale

Harmers International held a sale of worldwide stamps and postal history at the Collectors Club in New York on June 6, including a numerous array of philatelic forgeries. The sale was previewed on the front page of the June 8 Linn’s. The top lot was a cover from Romania franked with an 1858 54-parale stamp showing the classic bull’s head Coat of Arms design.
