August stamp shows and more

Many collectors will be traveling to national stamp shows this month, with the American Philatelic Society's Stampshow taking place Aug. 8-11 in Milwaukee, Wis., and the American First-Day Cover Society's Americover show Aug. 16-18 in Independence, Ohio, near Cleveland. Linn's will be represented at both shows — we hope to see you there.

It's also a busy month for the U.S. Postal Service, with a large number of stamps and postal stationery items scheduled for release.

This month's newsletter includes a report from the Port Judith Lighthouse first-day ceremony held July 13, and a companion feature on lighthouses that have appeared on United States stamps.

Also, a new video of the Point Judith Lighthouse stamp event has been posted to the Linn's Stamp News YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/linnsstampnews.

It's the International Year of Quinoa, and if you're not sure what that is, you might be surprised to learn that there are stamps that depict it. And finally, we have a preview of Vol. 5 of the Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue.

Happy collecting!
