Linn's Stamp IdentifierThe second revised, expanded edition of Linn's Stamp Identifier was published in late June. Edited by Linn's book editor Donna O'Keefe Houseman and Linn's associate editor Rick Miller, the book was thoroughly revised, expanded and updated for the second edition, with more than 500 new listings and new stamp photographs. Spiralbound to lie flat for easy use, the 190-page book features an up-to-date alphabetical listing of more than 2,000 inscriptions that are found on stamps, including separate sections for Greek and Cyrillic inscriptions that are found on stamps. The second section of the book contains transliterations of some non-Latin alphabets used on stamps, including Greek, Cyrillic, Hindi, Gujarata and Oriya. The remaining 133 pages are devoted to nearly 1,000 illustrations of difficult-to-identify stamps to aid the collector in identifying stamps with difficult inscriptions, inscriptions in non-Latin letters or no inscriptions at all. The book goes beyond the Scott catalog listings to provide clues for identifying United States and foreign local, revenue and telegraph stamps as well as bogus and fantasy stamps, cinderellas, seals and labels. Linn's Stamp Identifier retails for $11.99 and is available from stamp dealers or direct from Amos Hobby Publishing.
