The town of Limestone, Maine, hosted the 2024 Blokart East Coast Championships and issued a commemorative pictorial postmark to celebrate the occasion.

Blokart racing, originally conceived in 1999 by New Zealander Paul Beckett, has grown from humble beginnings in a garage to an international sport. Drawing from his experience in hang gliding and land sailing, Beckett engineered a compact, wind-powered craft designed for speed and convenience. Remarkably, the blokart can be disassembled to fit into the trunk of most cars and can be reassembled in just 10 minutes — without the need for tools. This blend of performance and portability has helped blokart racing capture the attention of enthusiasts worldwide.

The championship was part of the town’s Oct. 12 Octoberfest celebration, offering a mix of activities for all ages. Local residents and visitors enjoyed a day with free blokart rides for both adults and youth, family-friendly games such as pickleball and cornhole, a chili cook-off, and more.

Festivalgoers could visit the United States Postal Service booth for an opportunity to obtain the commemorative postmark showcasing the iconic blokart design.

To obtain the postmark, address your request to: LIMESTONE Station, Postmaster, 29 Main St., Limestone, ME 04750, Oct. 12.
