This Michigan pictorial postmark is full of bologna

Postmark Pursuit by Molly Goad
A Yale, Mich., festival honoring bologna has made its way onto a pictorial postmark.
Since 1989, the Yale Bologna Festival has been a staple for the small community of roughly 1,910 (2021 census). The three-day July festival draws people from around Michigan and other states and has grown to more than 20,000 attendees.
Festival events include crowning a new baby bologna along with a new king and queen of bologna, a Civil War reenactment, a rubber duck race, a street dance, fireworks, and a parade.
According to the Yale Chamber of Commerce, T.J. Minnie sold his first bologna in 1906 from a small Main Street shop.
“Since then, a proud history of making first-class bologna is still carried on today by C. Roy Inc., a company founded by Cecil Roy and still run by the Roy family,” the website said.
