Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke

A new winter edition of the United States Postal Service’s Delivering Cheer catalog recently landed in my mailbox — a welcome burst of color and creativity to close out the year.

This smaller catalog has become a clever supplemental companion to the Postal Service’s main USA Philatelic catalog. Its focus remains centered on the products related to U.S. stamp issues but often includes the stamps as well. This strategy clearly works, since USPS continues to lean into extra print mailings for its products like this one.

The catalog begins with a cheerful spread titled “Paper goods with postal flair,” showcasing an assortment of stationery, note cards, and letter sets that tap into the joy of correspondence. A few pages later, collectors can find puzzles, framed art, and seasonal gifts inspired by the year’s stamp designs.

And, of course, stamps are also included. The back pages neatly recap many of the recent forever issues, complete with item numbers for easy ordering through Stamp Fulfillment Services in Kansas City, Mo.

The return of these supplemental catalogs shows that direct mail marketing still has power, especially when it connects with the spirit of the season and the love of stamps. As 2025 draws to a close, Delivering Cheer lives up to its name and reminds us that there is still something special about discovering new treasures in the mailbox.

The catalog also serves as added promotion for the Postal Service’s website, stampsforever.com.
