USPS temporarily halts mail service to South Sudan, Turkmenistan
By Linn’s Staff
The United States Postal Service announced Dec. 10 that it has temporarily suspended international mail service to South Sudan and Turkmenistan effective Dec. 12.
Word of the announcement came via a press release from DMM Advisory.
According to the press release, the service disruptions affect Priority Mail Express International, Priority Mail International, first-class package international service, international Priority Airmail, and M-bag items.
“Unless otherwise noted, service suspensions to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail,” the press release said. “For already deposited items (PMEI, PMI, FCPIS, IPA Packets, IPA M-bags, and Airmail M-bags, entered on or after 12/12/25), the Postal Service will endorse the items as “Mail Service Suspended — Return to Sender” and place them in the mail stream for return to sender.”
Further information and updates are available on the Postal Service’s website at https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international.
