2025 Great American Stamp Show to feature U.S., U.N. first-day ceremonies

The 2025 Great American Stamp Show
will host several first-day ceremonies during its Aug. 14-17 run at the
Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Ill., the American
Philatelic Society announced Feb. 12.
The United States Postal Service will
host first-day ceremonies on Thursday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 16, at 11
a.m. Central Time. In addition, the USPS will conduct a special dedication on
Friday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. Central Time.
The stamps to be featured on Thursday
and Friday have not been announced, but the first-day ceremony on Saturday will
be for the Luna Moth stamp, the latest issue in the Butterflies nonmachineable
surcharge rate series.
In addition to the USPS ceremonies,
on Thursday at 1 p.m. Central Time, the show will host a first-day ceremony for
the latest Boston 2026 World Expo label.
The show will also host a United
Nations Postal Administration first-day ceremony on Thursday at 3 p.m. Central
Time. The U.N. issue has not been announced.
On Friday at 3 p.m. Central Time,
showgoers can attend the unveiling of the 2025 issue of the Rattlesnake Island
Local Post as well as an additional release, according to the APS. The time of
the Rattlesnake Island ceremony may change, and further details about the
additional issue will be announced later, the APS said.
