Denmark last-day cover available
A Dec. 31 last-day cover for international letters from Denmark is being offered by Denmark's state-run postal service PostNord ahead of the end of letter deliveries in Denmark at year’s end.
“The cover is sent out and cancelled by PostNord on the last day of service, and with the reference to the first stamps issued in Denmark, this is a sad but perfect circle,” said StampWorld ApS, a Danish company that runs the online Stampworld.com stamp collecting community, in an email announcing the sale.
The cover is franked with one of two stamps issued Sept. 12 showing reproductions of Denmark’s first two stamps issued in 1851 (Scott 1 and 2). The stamp is tied to the cover with a special last day PostNord cancellation, and customers cannot specify which stamp will be used.
The customer’s address will be handwritten on the cover and must be outside of Denmark.
Offered in cooperation with Nordfrim, the last-day cover can be ordered through Dec. 21 by email at contact@nordfrim.com or by phone at +45 64 82 12 56. The cover cannot be ordered online. Only one cover can be ordered per order, but multiple orders are allowed per customer.
PostNord’s move to end letter deliveries follows a transition period after Denmark’s universal postal service obligation ended with the Postal Act that took effect Jan. 1, 2024. PostNord announced March 6, 2025, that it would stop letter deliveries in Denmark at the end of 2025.
