Postcrossing meetup at Rocky Mountain show
Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke
The upcoming Rocky Mountain Stamp Show in May is hosting a Postcrossing meetup on Friday, May 23, at noon. The show will be held May 23-25 at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds Event Center in Aurora, Colo.
The meetup takes place immediately following the 11 a.m. first-day-of-issue ceremony for the United States Postal Service’s Baby Wild Animals nondenominated forever stamps being issued at the show.
A meetup is an informal gathering of postcard-writing enthusiasts who use the Postcrossing.com website. Socializing and signing postcards are the basic activities of the event.
According to the Postcrossing.com website, “The goal of this project is to allow anyone to send and receive postcards from all over the world!”
After setting up an account, you can send postcards to random individuals around the world, and in exchange, you receive postcards from different random people. The website provides further details about how the postcard exchange works.
Linn’s Stamp News is supplying the postcard design shown nearby for the meetup that will be available to the attendees. It will not be available from Linn’s directly.
Postcrossing enthusiast Kaitlyn Vaughan will host the meetup and is also offering her own postcard design for sale.
To attend and RSVP for either of the cards, visit the Postcrossing forum online.
