San Marino souvenir sheet celebrates Superman
By Linn’s Staff
A June 17 issue from San Marino celebrates Superman.
Poste San Marino, the country’s postal service, collaborated with Warner Bros. Discovery for the souvenir sheet of two €2.45 stamps issued ahead of the July 9 international film premier of Superman, written and directed by James Gunn.
One of the stamps on the sheet shows a blue background with the Superman logo of a red capital “S” inside a yellow stylized shield. The other stamp shows the hero himself, with the lower half of his body extending into the selvage of the sheet.
Poste San Marino announced the stamp issue April 18, the anniversary of Superman’s comic book debut in 1938. Fans of the superhero now recognize April 18 as Superman Day.
The sheet was printed by Cartor Security Printing by four-color offset in a print run of 20,000. The sheets measure 140 millimeters by 80mm, and the stamps measure 45mm by 33mm with gauge 13.75 by 14 perforations.
The €2.45 denomination covers the rate for letters weighing up to 350 grams and sent within San Marino.
The June 17 Superman stamp can be ordered from the WOPA+ Stamps and Coins website as well as the Poste San Marino website.
