Society for Czechoslovak Philately donates to Boston 2026 World Expo
By Linn’s Staff
The Society for Czechoslovak Philately donated $1,000 to the Boston 2026 World Expo, Thomas Fortunato, public relations chair for Boston 2026, said in a Dec. 4 press release.
Society president James Buckner informed show officers about the donation in a Nov. 30 email, Fortunato said.
The Society for Czechoslovak Philately was founded in New York City in 1939 as a club “devoted to the collecting, study of, education, and publicizing all aspects of philately represented by geographic areas of the former Czechoslovakia,” according to the society’s website.
The journal of the Society for Czechoslovak Philately, the Czechoslovak Specialist, features original and translated articles and has been published continuously since 1939.
Today, the society covers Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic (also called Slovakia), and Bohemia and Moravia, Fortunato said, and members of the society reside in 35 states and 17 countries.
Boston 2026 World Expo will take place May 23-30, 2026, at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Show details and instructions to sign up for email updates can be found on the expo’s website and via the expo’s Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram pages.
