Quad City cancer auction
The Quad City Stamp Club of Iowa and Illinois held its 37th consecutive benefit auction for the American Cancer Society on May 4, raising $5,283.
This year’s total brings the cumulative amount the club has raised for cancer research to $258,700.
The auction proceeds are donated equally to chapters of the American Cancer Society in Scott County, Iowa, and in Rock Island County, Ill.
Collectors all over America donated material for this year’s auction.
The Stamp Out Cancer auction was divided into United States and foreign sections, with two auctions taking place at the same time. The United States section raised $2,336, and the foreign section raised $2,947.
The club serves the Quad City area that includes Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa, and Moline and Rock Island in Illinois.
The Quad City Stamp Club meets the second Thursday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s School, 412 10th St., Moline, Ill. Visitors and interested collectors are always welcome.
