‘The Chronicle’ receives international philatelic award
The U.S. Philatelic Classics Society was awarded first prize in the annual CG International Philatelic Promotion award by Auktionshaus Christoph Gaertner of Germany.
The award was presented Oct. 24 at a stamp show in Sindelfingen, Germany.
The award is given annually to a group, society, club, association or publisher that “promotes the presentation of philatelic knowledge by supporting new publications” in either print or digital format.
A panel of judges chose the U.S. Philatelic Classics Society over numerous other international publications, including some of the philatelic world’s finest academic journals and literature.
This award highlights the society’s quarterly publication, The Chronicle of the U.S. Classic Postal Issues, and its cutting-edge research by leading philatelists.
The U.S. Philatelic Classics Society is a nonprofit association of collectors interested in the pre-1894 stamps and postal history of the United States.
The society’s goal is to promote interest and knowledge of philately through the encouragement of philatelic research, and through the exchange of information among members and with other philatelic organizations.
The society’s website is www.uspcs.org.
