Ship cancels remain popular
A pictorial postmark was created to commemorate the Sept. 1 reunion of those who served aboard the USS Kearsarge.
A reunion of those who served on the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge took place Sept. 1 in San Diego, Calif. The event was at the former Naval Training center, which now serves as an “urban village” called Liberty Station.
The aircraft carrier was launched March 26, 1992, and remains in service today.
Ship cancellations are popular with postmark collectors, and new cancellations are listed each week in Postmark Pursuit.
If you have an interest in ship cancellations, visit the Universal Ship Cancellation Society website at www.uscs.org.
To obtain this postmark, which has received a 30-day extension, send requests to the following address:
USS KEARSARGE REUNION Station, Postmaster, Main Office Windows, 11251 Rancho Carmel Drive, San Diego, CA 92199-9709, Sept. 1.
