U.S. Postal Service owes sculptor Frank Gaylord $540,000 in damages
A federal appeals court decision determined that the U.S. Postal Service owes artist Frank Gaylord $540,000 for depicting his copyrighted sculpture on the 2003 37¢ Korean War Veterans Memorial stamp.
A federal appeals court has directed the United States Postal Service to pay $540,000 to sculptor whose work was used for the design of the 2003 37¢ Korean War Veterans Memorial stamp, according to a story written by Marcia Coyle in the Legal Times blog of National Law Journal website.
In 2013, a federal court told the USPS that it owes Vermont sculptor Frank Gaylord $684,844.94 for the unauthorized use of his Korean War Veterans Memorial on a 2003 stamp.
