Alderney honors 'Alice in Wonderland'

Feb 9, 2015, 3 AM

Stamps from Alderney honor the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

Scenes from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland are pictured on new stamps from Alderney, an island in the English Channel that is part of the baliwick of Guernsey.

The stamps celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of this novel by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known by his pseudonym Lewis Carroll. The stamp set issued Feb. 5 includes six stamps and a souvenir sheet, all featuring illustrations by Keith Robinson, a freelance illustrator who specializes in children's books.

Guernsey Post, which issues stamps for Alderney, said of Robinson, " ... His unique talents and broad experience illustrating children's characters was ideal for designs based on Alice's adventures."
