American First Day Cover Society to hold Americover 2026 during Balpex show
By Linn’s Staff
The American First Day Cover Society announced Oct. 6 that it will hold its Americover 2026 exhibition in conjunction with the 2026 Balpex show, taking place Aug. 7-9, 2026, at the BWI Airport Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road, in Linthicum Heights, Md.
Americover has been a part of Great American Stamp Show for the past four years; however, Great American Stamp Show will not be held in 2026 due to the Boston 2026 World Expo, taking place May 23-30, 2026, at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center.
While the AFDCS will have a booth, meetings and seminars at the Boston 2026 show, the society felt Balpex would be a “better fit” for Americover, according to AFDCS president Lloyd de Vries. Balpex will host its own World Series of Philately exhibition at the show, and both exhibitions will be judged by a single jury.
The AFDCS held Americover as an independent show from 1993 to 2019, and it became a World Series of Philately exhibition in 2005.
The American First Day Cover Society is the largest not-for-profit first-day cover society in the world, with members in more than a dozen countries. It publishes an award-winning journal, First Days, six times a year; holds fundraising auctions; maintains a YouTube channel; conducts an annual cachetmaking contest; and encourages philatelic exhibiting and writing about FDCs.
More information about the American First Day Cover Society is available online at www.afdcs.net or by writing the AFDCS at Post Office Box 57, Somerset, WI 54025-0057.
