ASDA seeks executive director
The American Stamp Dealers Association is reviewing a field of potential candidates for the position of executive director following the resignation of interim executive director Evan “Van” Siegling.
Siegling, of Columbus, Ohio, was appointed interim executive director April 1, 2014, after the ASDA ended its relationship with executive director Amy Nicklaus.
The ASDA cited health concerns as the reason for Siegling’s resignation.
“Van had made great strides in helping bring the ASDA to a more responsible financial position, creating a positive relationship with dealer members, and improving our shows,” ASDA president Mark Reasoner stated in a Jan. 8 message to members. “His work and advice will be missed.”
Reasoner noted that a committee is already reviewing potential candidates for the position, and expressed hope that the association will be able to make an announcement soon.
Until then, the executive director’s responsibilities have been divided up among ASDA officers and volunteers.
Tami Jackson of Leesport, Pa., will handle phone calls, web site maintenance, contracts and additional details.
ASDA secretary Richard Friedberg will manage publicity for upcoming shows in Fort Lauderdale, Chicago and New York, with site managers responsible for arranging local details.
Reasoner will handle general show coordination and additional duties.
The American Stamp Dealers Association is a professional organization serving the stamp hobby, with members representing all segments of the philatelic marketplace.
Established in 1914, the ASDA just celebrated its centennial year.
