Born July 23: Daniel Radcliffe

In the Harry Potter stamp booklet issued Nov. 19, 2013, the 20 forever stamps use different photographs for vignettes. Seven of those stamps picture British actor Daniel Radcliffe in his role as the boy wizard, Harry.
Radcliffe was born July 23, 1989, in London, England.
Each stamp in the booklet captures a scene from one of the eight Harry Potter movies released between 2000 and 2011. The stamps picturing Radcliffe show him roughly between the ages of 11 (on Scott 4825, with a scene from the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) and 20 (on Scott 4842, from the final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2).
Daniel Jacob Radcliffe, who turns 26 today, appeared as young David in the 1999 BBC television adaptation of David Copperfield before he was selected for the title role in the Harry Potter films.
Since the Harry Potter series ran its course, Radcliffe has performed on the London stage and on Broadway in revivals of the plays Equus from 2007 to 2009, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying from 2011 to 2012. He also has taken on several film roles, including a turn as Igor in the 2015 horror film Victor Frankenstein, scheduled for release Nov. 25.
