1. Maya news
There's been a ton of Maya Angelou forever stamp coverage during the last couple of days here on Linns.com and elsewhere on the web.
Let's quickly catch up on recent developments:
- On April 6, Lonnae O'Neal reported in the Washington Post that the prominent quote on the stamp design, “A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song,” in fact did not come from Angelou but was published in the book A Cup of Sun by Joan Walsh Anglund, which carries a 1967 copyright.
- O'Neal then reported on April 7 that Anglund confirmed that the phrase is from A Cup of Sun.
- The same day, the Angelou stamp's star-studded issue ceremony took place in Washington, D.C., and Twitter was all over it.
