First-day ceremony details for Christmas Madonna and Child stamp

The United States Postal Service will hold a ceremony for the nondenominated (73¢) Christmas Madonna and Child forever stamp Sept. 14 in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with a ceremony for the nondenominated (73¢) Holiday Joy special stamps.

The Christmas Madonna and Child first-day ceremony will take place Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, 2 Massachusetts Ave. NE., Washington, D.C., with the Holiday Joy first-day ceremony to follow at 11 a.m.

Both ceremonies are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP on the USPS website.

The stamps are being issued in conjunction with the museum’s Holiday Stamps Family Festival that begins at 11:30 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. The festival offers crafts, games and educational activities.
