Florex stamp show Dec. 1-2

The Florex stamp show will take place Dec. 1-2 at the Volusia County Fairgrounds’ Tommy Lawrence Arena, 3150 E. New York Ave., DeLand, Fla.

The show is organized by the Florida Stamp Dealers’ Association and the Central Florida Stamp Club.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The show will feature up to 35 dealers and 120 frames of competitive exhibits. Buckets of stamps will be available at a youth area while supplies last, and the United States Postal Service will have a booth offering recent U.S. stamps for sale.

A show cancel and cacheted (decorated) cover will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

As a World Series of Philately show, the multiframe grand award winner at Florex will be eligible to compete in the Champion of Champions exhibition at the Great American Stamp Show in Hartford, Conn., Aug. 15-18, 2024.

The Florex single-frame grand award winner will be eligible for the single-frame championship at the Chicagopex show in Chicago Nov. 22-24, 2024.

Societies holding meetings at the show will include the Florida Postal History Society, Canal Zone Study Group, Souvenir Cards Collectors Society, and the Germany Philatelic Society Chapter No. 23.

Presentations will include an American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors forum on exhibiting, “Florida Tax Stamps: Citrus & More” by A. Stephen Patrick, “Computer Vending Postage” by Newt Kulp, “German Pictorial Cancellations” by the Germany Philatelic Society Chapter 23, and “Orlando Postcards and Postal History” by the Florida Postal History Society.
