Full schedule highlights 2025 Chicagopex show

The Chicago Philatelic Society will present its Chicagopex show Nov. 21-23 at the Westin Chicago Northwest, 400 Park Blvd., Itasca, Ill.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

The show will include a bourse (sales area) of more than 75 dealers, plus the United States Postal Service and the United Nations Postal Administration; an exhibition of 328 frames of philatelic material; and a philatelic literature competition.

Chicagopex 2025 will include the Ameristamp Expo in partnership with the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors.

Convening societies at the show include the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors, American Society of Polar Philatelists, Military Postal History Society and United Postal Stationery Society.

The single-frame Champion of Champions, selected among the best single-frame exhibits from World Series of Philately shows held during the prior year, will be awarded.

Because Chicagopex is a World Series of Philately show, the multiframe grand award winner will qualify to compete in the American Philatelic Society Champion of Champions exhibition at the Boston 2026 World Stamp Expo in Boston, Mass., May 23-30, 2026.

A highlight of the show will be a first-day-of-issue ceremony for the new UNESCO World Heritage – Mexico stamps by the United Nations Postal Administration at noon on Friday.

Chicagopex 2025 also has a full schedule of presentations and speakers.

On Friday at 11 a.m., American Philatelic Society executive director Kirk Gillis will host a town hall meeting. At noon on Friday, Stephen Knapp will present a session titled “A Revised Chronology for the US Type A Specimens,” while at 1 p.m. Linn’s contributing editor John Hotchner will be signing his new book; the title will be revealed at the show.

On Friday afternoon, there will be two Military Postal History Society presentations with Ed Dubin’s talk, “Lafayette Escadrille – World War I American Volunteers Flying for France,” at 2 p.m., followed by “Smokes for the Troops – British and Canadian Tobacco Funds in World War I,” by Jean Wang at 3 p.m.

Adam Steinback will give the Collectors Club of Chicago presentation, “Adding Context Between Album Pages,” on Friday at 4 p.m.

Presentations on Saturday include two United States Postal Stationery Society presentations. Dennis Schmidt will present “19th Century Official Stamped Envelopes — Introduction and Selected Uses” at 9 a.m., followed by “The Rise and Fall of Coated Postal Cards” by Ladd Faszold at 10 a.m.

Also on Saturday, a Military Postal History Society presentation, “Stars and Strife: Letters to Hollywood Movie Stars during Times of War,” will be given by Regis Hoffman at 11 a.m., and the Germany Philatelic Society Chapter 5 will present “Origins of the Boxer Revolt in China & German Intervention 1900-1901” by Jerry Miller at 2 p.m.

On the last day of the show, the Military Postal History Society will host two more sessions: “Regime Change in Vietnam: Issues of the Provisional Revolutionary Government and the Restoration of Postal Services in the Defeated South” by Earl Toops at 11 a.m., and at noon Ed Dubin will present “British Steamer SS Appam – German World War I Prize Ship and Crew Interned in the U.S.”

Along with the convening organizations, the following groups will meet at the show: British North America Philatelic Society, Auxiliary Markings Club, Chicago Philatelic Society, Germany Philatelic Society Chapter No. 5 and the Illinois Postal History Society.

The catered awards banquet will be Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets ($70 each) must be purchased in advance.
