Boston 2026 World Expo public relations chair Thomas Fortunato announced in a March 25 press release that Chris Lazaroff has been appointed commissioner general for the 2026 show.

Lazaroff replaces Yamil Kouri, who will continue as the exhibition’s president.

“As work progresses it became clear that it would be best that I concentrate my time solely on my leadership role and turn the important responsibilities of the exhibits to someone else,” Kouri said. “Chris is eminently qualified to handle the position, assisted by Deputy Commissioner General Dzintars Grinfelds.”

Lazaroff was previously named the regional U.S. commissioner of the eastern part of the country (Linn’s, March 3, 2025, page 11). Tom Fortunato will now assume that role while continuing as public relations chair.

Fortunato is a certified judge for both the American Philatelic Society and the American Topical Association, and had previously served for two decades as exhibition chair for the Ropex stamp show.

The Boston 2026 World Expo will take place May 23-30, 2026, at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Show details and instructions to sign up for email updates can be found on the Boston 2026 website and via the expo’s Facebook, X and Instagram pages.
