Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke

Summer is right around the corner, and with it comes the hobby’s biggest annual event: the Great American Stamp Show, taking place Aug. 14–17 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Ill. Whether you’re a lifelong collector or just getting started, this is the can’t-miss event of the year — and I encourage all of our readers to preregister now.

The show is free to attend and will feature more than 100 dealers, society meetings, world-class exhibits, USPS first-day ceremonies, and more. The Linn’s and Scott editorial team will be on-site throughout the event — stop by our booth and say hello!

We’re especially excited to share that Linn’s Stamp News is sponsoring three official Postcrossing meetups during the show held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

These gatherings are open to anyone with a love for postcards and global connections — and they’re a great way to meet fellow Postcrossers, exchange cards, and celebrate the magic of postcard mail.

Postcrossing is a worldwide postcard exchange project that brings together people from every corner of the globe through simple, heartfelt postcards. If you’ve never tried it, this is your perfect opportunity to get started.

We’ll have custom-designed cards available at each meetup — bring your favorite pens, stickers, and stamps, and prepare to swap cards, write messages, and make some great memories.

The postcards that will be distributed will relate to the Boston 2026 stamps, the 250 Years of Delivering Mail stamps, and the Luna Moth stamp. Reserve your cards in advance via the Postcrossing website.

We look forward to seeing you in Schaumburg this August. Make your travel plans, register early, and get ready for an unforgettable weekend celebrating stamps, community, and the joy of collecting.
