From the Scott Editors by Jay Bigalke

On a personal level, I have always had an interest in engraved stamps, and during the last 25 years I have been fortunate enough to have met some of the big names in stamp engraving.

I first met Martin Mörck in 2015 at the London 2015 Europhilex show where he autographed a souvenir sheet of stamps for me.

Considered one of the most prolific stamp designers and engravers in the world, Norwegian-Swedish artist Martin Mörck has designed and/or engraved 1,000 different stamps for 28 postal administrations. For his 1,000th stamp, he engraved the 1933 50-krone Faroe Islands issue (Scott 838) illustrating the Emil Krause painting Returning from Fishing.

I have long realized that I am not alone in my collecting journey that focuses on one engraver, which was part of the impetus that prompted this checklist. That and the enthusiasm collector Armagan Ozdinc brought to the creation of the new Scott Postage Stamp Checklist: Martin Mörck.

I am grateful for his dedication to this project, and I am certain collectors will enjoy having a checklist for collecting all of Mörck’s philatelic works through the end of December 2023.

This is a first for the Scott catalog editors: producing a checklist with illustrations and listings that mimic the Scott catalog listings for the stamps. There are even a few non-Scott listed items that were included in the checklist for the sake of providing a comprehensive list of Mörck’s works.

A sample page from the checklist is shown nearby along with the cover, which was officially debuted at the Hafnia 2024 stamp show in October in Denmark.

I hope you enjoy the Scott Postage Stamp Checklist: Martin Mörck.
