Paul Newman stamp ceremony announced

The first-day ceremony for the forever stamp honoring actor Paul Newman will take place Sept. 18 in the Playhouse Square District in Cleveland, Ohio.
Newman was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Shaker Heights, Ohio, an eastern suburb of Cleveland.
The first-day ceremony will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. at U.S. Bank Plaza on E. 14th Street and Euclid Avenue.
According to the United States Postal Service, Sept. 18 will be proclaimed as “Paul Newman Day.”
Among those scheduled to attend are Newman’s daughter Clea Newman; USPS Eastern Area vice president Joshua Colin; Janet Klug, chairman of the USPS Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee and Linn’s Stamp News columnist; and Mary-Anne Penner, director of USPS stamp services.
On Sept. 17, the night before the ceremony, a charity dinner and show honoring Newman’s legacy will benefit Flying Horse Farms, an Ohio camp that is part of the Serious Fun Children’s Network that Newman founded in 1988. Tickets are $200. Guests at the dinner will get a sneak peek at the Paul Newman stamp, according to the Postal Service. Information will be posted on the Flying Horse Farms website in early August.
The Paul Newman commemorative stamp will be issued in panes of 20.
