Postmark celebrates timeless Christmas movie

Postmark Pursuit by Linn’s Staff
One of the most beloved movies
watched by families all over the United States around Christmas is the 1946
film It’s a Wonderful Life directed by Frank Capra and starring actor
Jimmy Stewart.
The movie traces the trials and
tribulations of down on his luck banker George Bailey, who considers ending it
all on Christmas Eve until he is visited by an angel. Over the course of an
evening, the angel convinces George that life is worth living with the help of
friends and family.
The movie is set in the fictitious
town of Bedford Falls, a town modeled after Seneca Falls, N.Y. The latter is
the home to the Seneca Falls It’s a Wonderful Life Museum.
To celebrate the timeless movie, the
museum is offering a postmark during the town’s 78th anniversary celebration of
It’s a Wonderful Life, an annual event that took place Dec. 13-15, 2024.
The postmark features a circular
datestamp to the right of a rose and a line from the movie: “I want to look at
my flower.” Bailey’s daughter Zuzu delivers the line in the film, referencing
the petals of a flower she gives her father as a keepsake that ultimately helps
him through his Christmas Eve struggles.
To obtain the postmark, address your
request to: BEDFORD FALLS Station, Postmaster, 38 State St., Seneca Falls, NY
13148-9998, Dec 13-14.
