Representative supports Diwali stamp
United States Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) introduced a resolution Jan. 14 advocating that the United States Postal Service issue a stamp for Diwali (also called Deepavali), an ancient Hindu festival of lights celebrated in India and many other countries.
Maloney reported that Reps. Mike Honda (D-CA), Ami Bera (D-CA), Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) and Grace Meng (D-NY) have joined her in the push to recognize the holiday on a U.S. stamp.
