On Jan. 9, the United States Postal Service will add a new 4¢ definitive (regular-issue) stamp to its series of low-denomination Flowers stamps that began in 2024.

The new 4¢ stamp, which features photographer Harold Davis’ picture of angel’s trumpets, will be issued in self-adhesive panes of 20 and large coil rolls of 10,000.

The 1¢, 2¢, 3¢, 5¢ and 10¢ Flowers stamps (in panes, Scott 5897-5901; in coil rolls, 5902-5906) debuted July 18, 2024, and show Davis’ photos of a fringed tulip, daffodils, peonies, red tulips, and poppies and coneflowers, respectively.

As a service to collectors, the 4¢ Angel’s Trumpets coil stamps will also be available in strips of 500 from the Stamp Fulfillment Services mail-order center in Kansas City, Mo. Addition ordering details are in Linn’s 2026 U.S. Stamp Program.

In a clever design twist, the number of flowers illustrated matches the denomination of each stamp.

The 4¢ Angel’s Trumpets stamp is being issued in Kenosha, Wis., without an official USPS first-day ceremony.

A local first-day ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Central Standard Time at the Midwest Stamp Dealers Association WI/IL [Wisconsin/Illinois] Stateline Show, which is being held Jan. 9-10 at the First Christian Church, 13022 Wilmot Road, in Kenosha.

Stamp collector John Bills will be the keynote speaker. He will display and discuss his one-frame exhibit titled “Black Thumb – Plants That Can Kill.”

As shown here, the Postal Service’s preliminary design pictures the 4¢ Angel’s Trumpets stamp with serpentine die cuts all around, which is characteristic of stamps from a pane of 20. The coil stamps will have serpentine die cuts at left and right and straight edges at top and bottom.

The coil rolls will have small spaces between each stamp, and the backing paper will be slightly taller than the stamps. These characteristics facilitate the application of the stamps to large numbers of mailings using automated processing equipment.

Many of the Flowers coil stamps, including the new 4¢ Angel’s Trumpets, will likely be affixed to reply envelopes included with donation solicitations from nonprofit organizations and other similar groups. …

For the 2026 4¢ Angel’s Trumpets definitive stamp, the Postal Service is offering the standard “FIRST DAY OF ISSUE” postmark featuring a circular datestamp duplexed with a four-bar killer.

The black postmark is applied free, up to a quantity of 50, to most collector-submitted covers. There is a 5¢ charge for each additional postmark over 50. The postmark is also applied to first-day covers manufactured and sold by the Postal Service.

A USPS digital color first-day postmark is not available for the 4¢ Angel’s Trumpets stamp.

All requests for 4¢ Angel’s Trumpets first-day cancels must be postmarked by May 9.

Technical details and first-day cancel ordering information for the 4¢ Angel’s Trumpets definitive stamp were not available at the time of publication. They will be presented in a future issue of Linn’s.
