USPS to auction football-themed items starting Aug. 4

The United States Postal Service will auction philatelic products Aug. 4-10 through its eBay store at www.ebay.com/stamps.

The auction consists of six lots of football stamp-related items. The USPS eBay auction page is titled “Football Stamp Collectibles.”

The auction centers around the 1997 Legendary Football Coaches stamp issue and the 2003 Early Football Heroes stamp issue.

This is the third auction the Postal Service has conducted through its presence on the eBay online commerce site.

The first, held Sept. 13-23, offered more than 100 items described as originating from the USPS Postmaster General’s collection, including a selection of U.S. stamp proofs.

The second auction, held Feb. 16-26, included seven stamp proofs among the approximately 50 items on offer.
