USPS Wilt Chamberlain video online

The United States Postal Service has published a new video with clips from the Dec. 5 Wilt Chamberlain first-day ceremony, and interviews with basketball hall of famer Julius Erving and Chamberlain’s sister Selina Gross.

The Postal Service issued two forever stamps honoring Chamberlain, who dominated professional basketball during the 1960s and 1970s.

In the video, Erving, known throughout the sports world as “Dr. J,” reflects on Chamberlain’s impact on the sport, and the Postal Service’s stamp commemoration.

“I think in recognizing him, his name, in terms of the history of the game since 1946, that name is the most dominant name and the most recognizable name around the globe,” Erving said.

“Wilt Chamberlain, the more they try to forget him, the more things come up that make him memorable, and the U.S. Postal Service honoring him and his family with this stamp is going to make sure that continues.”

The stamp ceremony was held during halftime at the Dec. 5 game between the Philadelphia 76ers (the team both Chamberlain and Erving played for) and the Oklahoma City Thunder. It featured a tribute video and unveiled the stamp using the 76ers’ court projection system.
