Tom Vasiliauskas has been appointed president of Mystic Stamp Co. of Camden, N.Y. Mystic announced Vasiliauskas’ appointment in a Sept. 24 press release.

Don Sundman, the firm’s president for the past 50 years, will remain as chairman of the board of directors, Mystic said.

“I’m excited to build upon the 100-year legacy Mystic Stamp Company has forged with its loyal customer base, and to expand stamp collecting to an even larger audience,” Vasiliauskas said.

“I’m very excited for Tom to join our team,” Sundman said. “He’s got the experience and skills to take Mystic forward.”

For the past 25 years, Vasiliauskas lived in Chapel Hill, N.C. In response to a query from Linn’s Stamp News, Vasiliauskas said that he worked for retail establishments focused on the bicycle, arborist and recreational vehicle/camping industries.

“Within these companies I have managed their Marketing and Merchandising divisions, with a focus on growing their online ecommerce business while maintaining their successful print/direct mail campaigns,” Vasiliauskas told Linn’s. “Within these roles I have also managed Customer Service, Operations and Order Fulfillment divisions ensuring that the customer experience is seamless and consistent.”

Mystic Stamp Co. was founded in 1923. In 1974, Mystic was sold to Maynard Sundman (Don’s father) of Littleton, N.H. A half-century later, “under Don Sundman’s leadership, the employee-owned mail order business is the largest stamp company in the nation,” according to Mystic.

Mystic sells a large range of United States and worldwide stamps, first-day covers and collecting supplies.

The company has sponsored more than 8,600 collectors for membership in the American Philatelic Society and is a founding donor of the National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C.

“I love our company, our colleagues and customers, the hobby, and greater Camden,” Sundman said. “I want to see Mystic remain a force for good in all areas.”
