A souvenir sheet honors Spain’s new king, Felipe VI. The sheet was issued Oct. 12.

Spain issued a souvenir sheet Oct. 12 honoring the proclamation of Felipe VI as the king of Spain.

He succeeded to the throne June 19 upon the abdication of his father, King Juan Carlos.

The souvenir sheet includes two €1 stamps shown on a background of the Spanish flag and the king’s coat of arms. One stamp features the official portrait of the new king. The other shows him standing with his wife, Queen Letizia.

Spain’s security printer printed the souvenir sheet in a quantity of 300,000.

Definitives picturing the new king are planned for release in early 2015.
