The United Nations Postal Administration will honor World Health Day, International Music Day, International Day of Friendship and a space conference on stamps to be issued in 2018. Also, several U.N. stamp series will continue next year.
The UNPA 2018 stamp program will begin Jan. 12 with eight $1.15 stamps in the Flag series.
This series featuring flags of U.N. member states began Sept. 26, 1980, and is updated as new nations join or make significant changes in the designs of their flags.

The $1.15 stamps are for use from the UNPA’s post office at U.N. headquarters in New York City. The UNPA also has post offices at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland; and the Vienna International Center in Vienna, Austria.
On Feb. 18, UNPA will celebrate the Year of the Dog on the eighth pane in the China Lunar Calendar series. The pane will include 10 $1.15 stamps and 10 labels.
The Endangered Species series, which began in 1993, will continue March 2 with 12 stamps (four for each UNPA post office). The stamps will be issued in three panes of 16, each with four different se-tenant stamps.
Since 1950, World Health Day has been held annually on April 7, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization. On April 6, UNPA will issue six World Health Day stamps (two for each U.N. post office) and a souvenir card.
The UNISPACE+50 conference will take place June 20-21 in Vienna, Austria, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first U.N. Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. The first conference was held Aug. 14-27, 1968, in Vienna.
Six UNISPACE commemorative stamps and three souvenir sheets will be released June 20, the first day of the 2018 conference.
Two U.N. issues are slated for release in July. First, on July 18, will be five definitive stamps (1¢ and $2.50 for UNPA/New York, 2 francs for UNPA/Switzerland, and 1¢ and 2¢ for UNPA/Vienna).
Issued at the end of the month, on July 30, will be a pane of 10 $1.15 stamps and 10 labels for the International Day of Friendship.
This day was proclaimed in 2011 by the U.N. General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.
Another installment in the World Heritage series will be issued Aug. 15. As with previous sets in the series, the issue will include six stamps and three prestige booklets with text and illustrations in addition to stamps.
International Music Day, on Oct. 1, will be recognized with three panes of 12 stamps each.
The UNPA 2018 program is tentative and subject to change.
