2026 Scott catalog covers to feature Martin Mörck artwork

Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke

An international stamp exhibition takes place in the United States every 10 years, and for the past few decades the Scott catalog editors have recognized the exhibition on its catalog cover design. Next year’s Boston 2026 World Expo and the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary are being celebrated on the cover of the 2026 Scott catalogs.

The logo for the show appears on the catalog’s spine, not shown here, but the cover itself is eye-catching, if I do say so myself. The artwork is a closeup of the George Washington crossing the Delaware River painting that was illustrated in an engraved style in pen and ink by Martin Mörck. Considered one of the most prolific stamp designers and engravers in the world, Norwegian-Swedish artist Mörck has designed and/or engraved 1,037 different motifs appearing on a total of 1,202 stamps issued by 31 postal administrations.

Mörck is working on an engraved image of the entire painting and Scott catalog editors are planning something special for the completed engraving in conjunction with the Boston 2026 show next May 23-30.

Scott catalog editors worked with Armagan Ozdinc who helped direct the artwork for the catalog cover design. Ozdinc, a collector of Mörck’s works, consulted the Scott editors in the creation of the Scott Postage Stamp Checklist: Martin Mörck and was recently named a fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society London.

To preorder the 2026 Vol. 1-6 catalogs, visit the Amos Advantage website. Those that preorder the full set will receive a set of 10 postcards with five different designs that feature closeups of the five different sections of the engraving, similar to the five stamps from the United States 1976 issue for the bicentennial (Scott 1688).

The image nearby of the postcards show two of the five designs that are similar to the 24¢ stamps (Scott 1688a-b).

Additional information on the 2026 Scott catalogs will be published in a future issue of Linn’s Stamp News.
