Aland Post has announced its 2026 stamp program, which includes stamps, franking labels and postal stationery released in a span of six dates.

“The 2026 stamp year takes you on a journey through art and storytelling, where each stamp offers a window into Aland and the world,” Aland Post stamps head of design Johanna Finne said. “The motifs portray our island realm in the past, present and future – from nature and culture to personal stories and current events.”

The stamp year begins Feb. 4 with a new series of self-adhesive franking labels depicting four of Aland’s most common tree species. Illustrator Marie Laaksonen makes her Aland Post debut with designs showing Scots pine, European spruce, white birch and pedunculate oak.

The same date marks the conclusion of a three-year series featuring Aland boathouses, with two stamps portraying structures that function as social spaces as well as practical buildings. The stamp images were photographed by Kjell Soderlund.

Three stamps are scheduled for March 18. As part of the Sepac 2026 series highlighting landmarks from Europe’s smaller postal administrations, Aland’s contribution features the four-masted sailing ship Pommern in Mariehamn’s western harbor, photographed in winter by first-time stamp artist Moein Eshghi.

Also appearing that day is a new Open Edition stamp by visual artist Lin Simons depicting an emerald damselfly on a late-summer evening. A third March 18 stamp turns to the financial services sector, with illustrator Elin Eriksson interpreting a theme inspired by the Aland-based company Enfuce.

On May 8, Aland Post marks the 70th anniversary of the Europa stamp series with two commemorative stamps. One follows the joint PostEurop design by Klaus Welp symbolizing collaboration among European postal services, while Aland Post’s own anniversary stamp, illustrated by Tzenko Stoyanov, emphasizes Europe’s diversity and unity.

The yearly stamp booklet also appears May 8, with four stamps portraying island weather through motifs of mist, rain, a sunset at sea and meadow plants moving in the wind.

A June 9 issue marks the 25th anniversary of the Aland Photography Museum with a miniature sheet designed by Martin Mörck. The same day brings a new Art Classics postal stationery series featuring paintings with Aland motifs by Ellen Favorin, Elin Danielson, Hanna Ronnberg and Tove Jansson.

Two stamps are scheduled for Sept. 21, the International Day of Peace. One is former Finnish President Sauli Niinisto’s personal stamp in the My Aland series, with the theme of security as interpreted by photographer Christoffer Relander. The second focuses on microalgae, featuring the Baltic Sea diatom Chaetoceros wighamii photographed at high magnification.

The 2026 program concludes Oct. 23 with winter- and Christmas-themed stamps titled “Winter Dreams,” illustrated by Juta Policja, along with a sheet of Christmas seals.

Aland Post said the stamps will be available to order online at www.alandstamps.com/en approximately one month before their issue dates.
