Canada Post continues Indigenous Leaders series with June 20 issue

By David Hartwig
On June 20 Canada Post issued three stamps in its Indigenous Leaders series.
The Indigenous Leaders stamp series began in 2022 and pays tribute to the lives and legacies of Indigenous leaders. The June 20 issue date comes a day before the National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada.
The 2025 stamps in the series feature Julia Haogak Ogina, Sophie McDougall and Bruce Starlight, who have all helped to preserve the cultures and languages of their respective Inuit, Metis and First Nations communities.
Canada Post unveiled the Julia Haogak Ogina stamp design June 13. The designs for Sophie McDougall and Bruce Starlight were unveiled June 17 and June 19, respectively. …
Each of the three stamps in the series has a “P” inside a symbolic maple leaf, indicating that it pays the permanent rate (currently $1.24).
Andrew Perro designed the stamps, which were printed in three booklets of six: Canada Post ordering number 414296111 for Julia Ogina, 414298111 for Sophie McDougall, and 414297111 for Bruce Starlight. The quantity printed was 100,000 of each booklet.
The three stamps also are available in a single souvenir sheet (404296145) printed in a quantity of 30,000.
Canada Post produced 6,000 first-day covers for each stamp. The product numbers are 414296131 for the Julia Haogak Ogina FDC, 414298131 for Sophie McDougall, and 414297131 for Bruce Starlight.
The June 20 Indigenous Leaders stamps and related items are available by mail order from Canada Post Customer Service, Box 90022, 2701 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, ON K1V 1J8 Canada; or by telephone from the United States or Canada at 800-565-4362, and from other countries at 902-863-6550.
