On Oct. 23 at the opening ceremony of the International Stamp Fair (Internationale Briefmarken-Borse) in Ulm, Germany, Dieter Schaile, chairman of Vorsitzender des Landesverbandes Sudwest (State Association Southwest), and Alfred Schmidt, president of Bund Deutscher Philatelisten (Federation of German Philatelists), announced that a Ibra international stamp show will be held Oct. 26-29, 2028, at the Ulm Messe (Ulm fairgrounds).

Previously the world stamp exhibition Ibra 2023 took place May 25-28, 2023, in Essen, Germany.

According to the Ibra 2023 website, Ibra believes “that stamp collecting offers a unique connection between art, history, and community. Whether you’re an experienced collector or a curious beginner, we provide the resources to deepen your passion. Our goal is to promote the joy of stamp collecting and inspire the next generation of collectors.”

The 2023 show was organized by Bund Deutscher Philatelisten and hosted a bourse (sales area) of more than 100 dealers, auctioneers and postal administrations.

The Ibra 2023 exhibition was under the patronage of the International Federation of Philately (FIP) and featured more than 800 exhibits from around the world in approximately 3,600 exhibit frames. Special exhibits included “Prussia – The first Three Issues 1850-59” by Alfred Schmidt, and “The Mail System in the Viceroyalti of Peru” by Ponce Lozada and Julio Cesar, and the Walter Britz exhibit “Uruguay: Early Issues of the XIX Century (1856-1862).”

More information about the 2028 Ibra show will be published as it becomes available.
