Linn’s prepares next chapter for Stamp Market Tips column
Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke
For decades Linn’s Stamp News readers have relied on Stamp Market Tips as a trusted guide to the changing world of philately. Co-authored by longtime dealer and columnist Henry Gitner alongside Rick Miller, the column offered practical, experience-driven insights into buying, selling and collecting stamps in today’s market.
Sadly, publication of the column came to an abrupt pause this summer, following Miller’s passing in July. His knowledge, enthusiasm and unique voice were invaluable to Linn’s and to our readership, and his absence is deeply felt. Miller’s obituary appeared in the Aug. 11 issue of Linn’s.
That said, we believe strongly in the continuing value of Stamp Market Tips. Gitner would like to see the column return to these pages (and possibly to Scott Stamp Monthly), and the editorial team is now considering the best way forward. This moment offers us the opportunity to reflect on what our readers most appreciate about the column — and whether any refinements might make it even more useful in the years ahead.
We would very much like to hear from you. Should Stamp Market Tips continue in its familiar style, or would you welcome some new elements? Are there particular areas of the stamp market you would like to see highlighted? And do you know someone — perhaps even yourself — who might be a good candidate to co-author the column with Gitner?
Please share your thoughts, suggestions and expressions of interest by emailing linnseditorial@amosmedia.com. Your feedback will help shape the next chapter of Stamp Market Tips, ensuring that it continues to serve as a practical resource and a connection point between collectors, dealers, and the broader stamp marketplace.
