Norway unveils 2026 stamp program

Norway’s postal service, Posten, announced details of its 2026 stamp program Dec. 17.
The first 2026 issues will appear Feb. 2 with a set highlighting architecture. Norway issued a previous set commemorating Norwegian Architecture in 2001 (Scott 1296-1297).
The 2026 architecture stamps will be issued in sheets of 10 as three denominations reflecting letter prices going into effect Feb. 1. The three denominations in the Feb. 2 issue all cover the rate for small letters, which Posten defines as up to 17.6 centimeters long, 25cm wide and 0.5cm thick. Rates are 28 krone for domestic, 37k for Europe and 44k for the rest of the world.
A stamp with the title of “Reuse” will also be issued Feb. 2. It will be denominated at the Norway small rate and available in rolls of 100.
On March 2, Norway will issue stamps commemorating folk costumes. The stamps will cover the rate for large (46k) and extra large (69k) letters and will be issued in sheetlets of 10. Posten defines large letters as those measuring 25cm long, 35.3cm wide and 2cm thick; and extra large letters as large letters between 2cm and 7cm thick.
A stamp marking the Year of Local Newspapers will be issued April 23. The Norway small stamp will be available in booklets of 10.
The 250th anniversary of Blaafarvevaerket, a cobalt mining and pigment production company, will be commemorated May 9 with a Europe small stamp. The issue will be available in booklets of 10 as well as a miniature sheet.
On June 11, Norway will issue a set of four stamps featuring cats, each denominated at the Norway small rate. The stamps will be sold in rolls of 100, with 25 of each design.
Also on June 11, a miniature sheet will mark the FIFA World Cup, which begins June 11 with the opening match at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City and takes place across host cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico through July 19.
An Oct. 2 issue will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the current-affairs and human-interest television program tkitl Norge Rundt. tkitl The Norway small stamp will be sold in rolls of 100.
On Oct. 3, Norway will issue an Insects set consisting of two Norway large stamps, available in sheets of 10.
The bicentenary of Rikshospitalet, which began as Norway's national hospital and is now a highly specialized medical center, will be recognized Oct. 16 with a Norway large stamp issue in a sheet of 10.
The 2026 program will conclude Nov. 6 with the annual Christmas issue. Two Norway small stamps will be issued in booklets of 10, with five of each motif.
All stamps in the 2026 Norwegian program will be printed in offset. All stamps are self-adhesive, except for miniature sheets.
