Only 150 days to Boston 2026

Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke

As I pen this column, the Boston 2026 international stamp show is now just 150 days away. Scheduled for May 23-30, 2026, the show is rapidly moving from an abstraction in the future to a very present reality. For planning details, schedules, and updates, readers can visit online at Boston2026.org.

For many collectors, the countdown has already begun. International exhibitions of this scale do not come to the United States often, and when they do, they tend to define an era in American philately. Exhibits, dealers, societies, postal administrations, and collectors from around the world will converge on Boston for what promises to be one of the most significant philatelic gatherings in decades.

Given the anticipation, we would like to hear from readers as their plans take shape. What are you most excited about so far? Is it the competitive exhibits, the bourse, the society meetings, the chance to reconnect with old friends, or the opportunity to introduce a new collector to the hobby at a world-class event? Are you already committed to attending, or still undecided?

If you are not planning to go, tell us why. Is it the distance, cost, time, or something else? Just as important, what, if anything, might change your mind? World stamp shows succeed not only because of what organizers and exhibitors contribute, but because of the collectors who choose to participate. Your unique perspectives help shape how these events are understood and remembered.

From the standpoint of Scott Stamp LLC, Boston 2026 has been circled on our calendar from the beginning. We have a few things up our sleeves for our booth at the show along with some outside of our space, and plan to begin revealing more details about those here soon. Boston will be an important time for us to connect directly with collectors, contributors, and readers, and to showcase both continuity and evolution within the Scott and Linn’s brands.

The past year has also been a deliberate ramp-up for us. Our George Washington crossing the Delaware catalog covers, from engravings by Martin Mörck, were conceived as a yearlong visual tribute aligned with the 250th anniversary of the United States. That anniversary year provided the perfect historical and symbolic framework, a moment to reflect on the endurance, reinvention, and shared national history of the country, qualities that also resonate deeply within philately itself.

Boston 2026 feels like a natural continuation of that arc. It is not simply another show on the calendar, but a focal point where history, scholarship, collecting, and community intersect.

In the meantime, let us know where you stand. Are you counting down the days, still deciding, or planning to watch from afar? Your answers will help frame the conversation as Boston 2026 moves ever closer from anticipation to reality.
