What’s new for 2026 Scott Standard Volume 1

From the Scott Editors by Jay Bigalke
Another catalog season is upon us as we continue the journey of the 157-year history of the Scott catalogs. The 2026 volumes are the 182nd edition of the Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue. Volume 1A includes listings for the United States, United Nations, and countries of the world Aden through Australia. Listings for Austria through B countries of the world can be found in Vol. 1B.
The Boston 2026 World Expo and the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary are being celebrated on the cover of the 2026 Scott catalogs.
The logo for the show appears on the catalog’s spine, and the cover artwork is a closeup of the painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware River that was illustrated in an engraved style in pen and ink by master designer and engraver Martin Mörck.
Because Vol. 1B is a continuation of the first part of the Vol. 1 catalog, the introduction pages are not repeated in each volume this year.
Value changes show a mixed pattern for the United States. Some of the great rarities of U.S. philately sold at auction in the period of late 2023 through mid-2024. Most notable, of course, was the sale of the Bill Gross U.S. singles collection. Most of the rarities sold very well indeed, and some substantial value increases resulted.
Serious collectors are quite aware of how difficult it is to find classic stamps in true very fine condition. Some of these early very fine stamps sold recently at high prices, resulting in value increases in the catalog.
Values of forever stamps were updated to reflect the new 73¢ postage rate that took effect July 14, 2024.
Other countries in Vol. 1 that received significant reviews include the following (with the approximate number of changes made for each): French Andorra (1,400 changes), Anguilla (800), Antigua (200), Ascension (200), Bahamas (1,500), Bangladesh (500), Bolivia (1,700), Botswana (900), British Honduras (400), British Indian Ocean Territory (700) and Brunei (500).
Additional countries received reviews that are not noted in this letter. We encourage you to pay special attention to the Number Additions, Deletions and Changes listing. We also suggest reading the catalog introduction, which includes an abundance of useful information.
A digital subscription is also available for the Scott catalogs, and information about the subscription can be found on the Amos Advantage website.
