2024 Great American Stamp Show to host first-day ceremonies for Pinback Buttons, Autumn Colors stamps
By Charles Snee
The American Philatelic Society announced Dec. 19 that first-day ceremonies for two 2024 United States stamp issues will take place at the Aug. 15-18 Great American Stamp Show in Hartford, Conn.
On Thursday, Aug. 15, the 10 Pinback Buttons stamps will be issued, followed by the 10 Autumn Colors stamps on Friday, Aug. 16.
Both issues were first reported in Linn’s page 1 story about the U.S. 2024 stamp program in the Nov. 13, 2023, issue.
In response to a query from Linn’s, APS executive director Scott English said the society received word about the first-day ceremonies in early December.
“USPS gave us approval to publicize the dates last week,” English said.
According to the USPS, the 10 round Pinback Buttons stamps in a pane of 20 will feature “designs by 10 different artists in their unique styles, each with a single word as the prominent element — smile (Don Clark), hello! (Tré Seals), peace (Jay Fletcher), love (Juan Carlos Pagan), fun (Gia Graham), sweet (Jeff Rogers), yes! (Ryan Feerer), cheers! (Lisa Congdon), kudos! (DKNG Studios) and happy (Gina Triplett).”
Photographs of the vibrant colors of fall taken around the United States are the subject of the 10 Autumn Colors stamps to be issued in a pane of 20. The photos are from the portfolio of esteemed nature and garden photographer Allen Rokach (1941-2021).
The 2024 Great American Stamp Show will take place at the Connecticut Convention Center, Hall AB, 100 Columbus Blvd., in Hartford.
