APS to launch new online education platform

Philatelic Foreword by Jay Bigalke
The American Philatelic Society announced in May that it is replacing its previous online learning platform C3a. The Stephen Campbell Home of Online Learning, or Stamp SCHOOL for short, honors former APS member Steve Campbell, who was a frequent attendee of the APS Summer Seminar.
“The new, modern platform will emphasize interactivity, community building between learners, and ease of access and use,” the APS said in a press release.
Karen Campbell, Steve’s widow, made a donation of $100,000 to the APS in his honor.
The APS produced an interview with Karen to further tell Steve’s story.
“This donation allows the APS to meet our vision of sharing the philatelic expertise of our members to a broader audience, regardless of time or location,” said APS director of education Shaun McMurtrie. “Our goal is to eliminate barriers to enjoying the hobby.”
Further fundraising efforts for education will take place at the Stamp Soiree at the Great American Stamp Show Aug. 15-18 in Hartford, Conn.
According to the APS, the new platform will include “on-demand and live learning events, curricula for beginner, intermediate, and advanced collectors, and one-on-one instructor-student learning opportunities.”
I look forward to hearing more about the educational opportunities that the APS will offer with this new, very generous donation to help promote learning more about stamps.
