Boston 2026 receives pledge from Westpex show
By Linn’s Staff
The World Series of Philately
exhibition Westpex pledged $10,000 to the Boston 2026 World Expo, Thomas
Fortunato, public relations chair for Boston 2026, said in an Oct. 16 press
release.
“During the last Westpex board
meeting, the board members authorized a $10,000 donation to Boston 2026,”
Westpex chairman Behruz Nassre said. “As a non-profit organization dedicated to
expanding and promoting philately in the United States, the board felt it was
essential that we show our support and hopefully encourage other shows to do
the same.”
The group also gave grants to the
previous U.S. international shows in 2006 (Washington, D.C.) and 2016 (New
York, N.Y.) before pledging to Boston 2026.
“We appreciate the generous support
of WESTPEX and echo the sentiments of Behruz and the board in all of our
efforts in promoting this wonderful hobby,” Boston 2026 World Expo president
Yamil Kouri said.
The 2025 Westpex show will take place
April 25-27 at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront Hotel, 1800 Old
Bayshore Highway, Burlingame, Calif., near San Francisco.
Attending societies will include the
American Helvetia Philatelic Society, Rossica Society of Russian Philately,
Mexico-Elmhurst Philatelic Society International and the Rhodesian Study
Circle. More information on the 2025 Westpex show is available online.
Boston 2026 World Expo will take place May 23-30, 2026, at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Show details and instructions to sign up for email updates can be found on the Boston 2026 website and via the expo’s Facebook, X and Instagram pages.
