Cash prizes offered for Wisconsin topical exhibits

By Linn’s Staff
Submissions are open for one-page, noncompetitive exhibits related to any aspect of Wisconsin as part of a challenge sponsored by Chapter 5 (the Milwaukee Chapter) of the American Topical Association in celebration of 75 years of organized topical collecting.
The application, instructions and sample exhibits are available online. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 31, 2024.
In January 2025, a random drawing of applicants will be awarded cash prizes of $25, $50 and $75. Applicants can submit multiple exhibits, but no person can receive more than one prize.
The American Topical Association says the educational exhibits will showcase a wide range of philatelic material to tell the story of Wisconsin.
“The intent is to encourage participation without the skills and structure required for competitive exhibits,” the association said.
The contest is in honor of Jerry Husak, who founded the American Topical Association in 1949 as a 17-year-old in Milwaukee. Husak and his wife Sally lived in Wisconsin for many years.
For more information about the ATA, write to the American Topical Association, Box 2143, Greer, SC 29652-2143, or visit the ATA website.
