Civil War Philatelic Society donates to Boston 2026 World Expo
By Linn’s Staff
The Civil War Philatelic Society donated $5,000 to the Boston 2026 World Expo, Thomas Fortunato, public relations chair for Boston 2026, said in an April 3 press release.
Civil War Philatelic Society president Daniel Knowles said that the society’s members, trustees and officers look forward to holding meetings and presentations at the show, as well as sharing a booth with the Carriers and Locals Society.
Founded in 1935 as the Confederate Stamp Alliance, the group changed its name to the Civil War Philatelic Society in 2020 and broadened its collecting focus to all collectors of Civil War philately.
According to the society’s website, the group’s members are composed of “collectors and students working together to collect and study the stamps and postal history of the Civil War, without the bias of politics or sectionalism.”
The website provides information on the society’s quarterly Civil War Philatelist journal, periodical archives, basic collecting information, expertizing services, membership information, auctions, exhibits and more.
Boston 2026 World Expo will take place May 23-30, 2026, at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Show details and instructions to sign up for email updates can be found on the expo’s website and via the expo’s Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram pages.
