Jan. 24-26 Southeastern Stamp Expo

The Southeast Federation of Stamp
Clubs will host the 2025 Southeastern Stamp Expo Jan. 24-26 at the Hilton
Atlanta Northeast, 5993 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., in Peachtree Corners, Ga.,
about 20 miles northeast of Atlanta.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Parking is free. Admission
for the weekend is $7 per family. Admission includes two raffle tickets for
prizes that include a United States 1847 5¢ Benjamin Franklin (Scott 1) and an
1869 2¢ Post Horse and Rider stamp (113).
On Jan. 24 the show will host a local
first-day ceremony for the nondenominated ($1.65) 1794 Compass Rose global
forever stamp. A Postcrossing meetup will occur at the show on the same day the
stamp is to be issued.
The show will feature more than 140
frames of exhibits and a bourse (sales area) with 20 dealers. Experienced stamp
collectors will be on hand to provide evaluations of inherited stamp
collections.
The Southeastern Stamp Expo is an
American Philatelic Society World Series of Philately exhibition. The
multiframe grand award winner will qualify for the Champion of Champions
competition at the Great American Stamp Show to take place Aug. 14-17 in Schaumburg,
Ill.
The single-frame grand award winner
will be eligible for the single-frame championship at the Chicagopex show near
Chicago Nov. 21-23.
Exhibits at the Southeastern Stamp
Expo will be judged by an APS-accredited jury chaired by Kenneth Trettin. Also
on the panel are judges Rick Gibson, Ed Kroft, Matthew Liebson, Patricia Walker
and apprentice Daniel Knowles.
An awards banquet is scheduled for 6
p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the show hotel. The cost is $65 a person, and
tickets must be purchased before Jan. 22. Queries can be sent by email to

The show theme is the 250th
anniversary of the U.S. postal system with Benjamin Franklin as the first
postmaster general. The theme will be displayed in exhibits, presentations and
special philatelic displays.
The show will feature the following
presentations: “History of the US Postal System,” “Benjamin Franklin – First
Postmaster General,” “1901 Pan-American Issue,” “1893 Columbian Issue” and
“Designing First Day Covers and Show Covers.”
Convening societies at the
Southeastern Stamp Expo include the Georgia Postal History Society, American
First Day Cover Society, American Topical Association, Ebony Society of
Philatelic Events and Reflections, and the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors.

rate of $135 per night.
